On June 6th, 2025, a huge day arrived for my hometown, Kaunas - Justin Timberlake brought his JT Live '25 World Tour (this leg focused on festivals and outdoor venues) to Lithuania! The concert was held at the newly renovated Darius and Girenas Stadium, which had already hosted Ed Sheeran twice last year. Around 45,000 people gathered at the stadium, and although I had just seen Justin live in Hamburg last year, there was no way I was going to miss the chance to see this pop icon perform in my own city. Keep reading to find out how it went - and why I was shocked by the Lithuanian reaction afterward.
The Tickets to Justin Timberlake World Tour 2025 in Kaunas
After waiting in an online queue for a bit, I managed to grab fan zone tickets for €125 each through the Lithuanian ticket distributor Bilietai.lt.
The Venue – Darius and Girenas Stadium in Kaunas
As I mentioned, the show took place at the newly renovated Darius and Girenas Stadium in Kaunas. I actually have a whole blog post dedicated to this compact but convenient venue here, including important tips for visiting it.
One thing I love: you can walk to the stadium from the city center. After the show, thousands of people walked back downtown, and the post-concert afterparty continued until the early morning hours. That’s how excited the crowd was!

7:40 PM - We arrived at the venue

9:30 PM - Justin Timberlake

Getting There and Pre-Show Vibes
This time, we couldn’t arrive early enough to get a front-row spot due to overlapping plans, but my mom and I still got ready and headed out as soon as we could. One of the perks of living in Kaunas? I can actually walk to the stadium from home, which makes the whole experience so relaxed.
We got to the stadium just before Chinchilla’s set, but I missed some of it while picking up drinks and merch. Speaking of merch - I grabbed a T-shirt that might just be my new favorite. I love the design and style!
We found a pretty decent spot in the fan zone - not too close, but with a great overall view of the stage and the runway. While waiting, Justin Timberlake’s tour DJ, Andrew Hypes, got the crowd warmed up. He also opened in Hamburg, and I must say, he’s one of the best pre-show DJs I’ve seen. Then Dagny came on and delivered a fun and energetic performance - and finally, it was time for the legend himself.

Justin Timberlake: “It’s a different type of party here in Kaunas”
At 9:30 PM, Justin Timberlake appeared on stage with his band, the Tennessee Kids, and opened with 'Mirrors'. Hearing that song live in my hometown was emotional, to say the least. He followed it up with 'Cry Me a River', and the crowd went wild. 'No Angels', his new hit, came next, followed by the iconic 'LoveStoned/I Think She Knows'. It felt like a nonstop medley of hits, complete with his signature dance moves and high-energy performance.
Justin seemed genuinely impressed by the loud crowd, laughing and saying, “It’s a different type of party here in Kaunas.” Maybe people didn’t know all the lyrics, but they made up for it with cheering, clapping, and pure admiration.
Later, he slowed things down with an acoustic set, playing 'Selfish' and 'What Goes Around... Comes Around' on guitar. The whole stadium turned into a sea of lights - such a beautiful and emotional moment.
He closed the main set with 'SexyBack', which was actually the first Justin Timberlake song I ever heard as a teenager (when my English obviously wasn’t great). It’s still one of my favorites, though my ultimate favorite is 'My Love'.
The crowd didn’t let Justin go easily. After minutes of loud cheering, he came back out for an encore and performed the beautiful 'Until the End of Time'. The whole show lasted around 1.5 hours - on the shorter side - but it was packed with hits, top-tier performance, and insane energy. The band added so much, and the setlist was perfect. I loved the Hamburg show last September, but honestly, I think I enjoyed this one even more.
You can check the full setlist here.
But Then Came the Backlash...
As I left the show glowing with excitement, I didn’t expect to hear so much negative feedback from Lithuanians. I don’t even want to dwell on it too much because, honestly, it felt absurd - but the local media blew it up, so I feel like, as a self-proclaimed concert expert, I need to deliver my hot take on the topic.
So what happened? Many Lithuanians were disappointed with the stage design, lack of effects, no fireworks - you name it. Even some local “celebrities” with limited achievements felt entitled to critique a pop legend like Justin.
Now, constructive feedback is always welcome - but most of these complaints were clearly based on unrealistic expectations and a lack of context. So here it is - because common sense isn’t that common anymore. This is the 2025 leg of the tour, focused more on festivals and outdoor venues. It features simpler staging and a shorter setlist. In 2024, the tour was held in indoor arenas and included that famous moving and floating stage. That show ended with Justin singing ‘Mirrors’ on top of a rotating, floating platform. Even without an engineering degree, it seemed obvious to me that you can’t just move that exact structure to outdoor venues and stadiums. But apparently, the general public expected it - and were furious when it didn’t happen.
Another thing - for comparison, I paid €150 for a general admission ticket in Hamburg (there was no fan zone), and €125 here for a golden circle spot. That’s actually a great deal in today’s concert market.
If you’ve read my blog before, you know I don’t focus too much on stage effects. Sure, they can elevate a show to the next level, but what matters most to me is the music and performance. Shows like HURTS or Imagine Dragons, which rely more on pure talent and energy, still leave me buzzing - and this Justin show was no different. Yes, the stage and visuals were minimal, but he delivered a powerful, high-energy set packed with hits. He also had an amazing band alongside him, singing and dancing together, which added so much to the vibe.
I’ve noticed for quite some time that Lithuanians are really into effects at concerts (I’m not sure if it’s this extreme in other countries), but this time it really blew out of proportion. I still hope it was just a small but loud group of people complaining, and the media exaggerated it for clicks.
Final Thoughts
I genuinely loved Justin Timberlake’s show in Kaunas. He reminded us once again what an icon and true showman he is. I’m proud that Kaunas could host an event like this - it felt like a national holiday with the party continuing all night long.
I just hope that people focus on the good memories and emotions from that unforgettable night, instead of getting stuck on complaints about special effects.
